We are simply an informal group of Type 181 Thing owners, enthusiasts, and fans who like to get together for occasional excursions here in the Pacific Northwest (in our Things of course!). We are a chapter of the national Type 181 Registry. We do not charge any dues to be considered a member, but encourage you to become a member of the national organization since we get a lot of support from them

Volksfest 2008
September 13th & 14th

The Apple Valley Volkswagen Association hosts "Volksfest Weekend" at Moxee City Park, Yakima, Washington.
It has evolved into one of the Premier, All Volkswagen Car Show and Cruise-In’s in the Pacific Northwest.
This is their 17th year and “Volksfest 2008” promises to be their best ever.

We will meet at the Outlet stores off I-90 in North Bend at 9 AM
Saturday the 13th. If you are on the road and it looks like you will be late call
360-259-0703 and we will wait for you, otherwise you can catch up with us at the
Indian John Rest Stop on the other side of Snoqualmie.

On Saturday, the official “Cruise-In” will be held at Taco Time, 2111 So 1st St. from noon to 3 pm with music, door prizes, and a poker run. At 4:00 pm there will be a cruise ending at Renegade Raceway for exciting drag racing action!

As in the past, on Sunday they will present unique, handmade trophies for the car show. And don't miss the HUGE swap meet! There will be organized activities for the kids. This is a family show, and as always, alcohol, weapons or illegal substances are not allowed at any Volksfest events. Important Note: NO PETS allowed in the park.

Directions for those that want to go but can't meet us at North Bend: Take exit 34 from I-82, east (past K-Mart), pass the Moxie exit signs and turn left at Rivard Road, alongside the park. Not a lot of mature trees (yet), so bring your shade!

Saturday or Sunday Suggested Cruise Format

1. Meet at an easily reachable location 10-11 AM
(i.e. Walmart parking lot)

2. After a 1 hour wait and chat, start cruise to landmark, antique shops, waterfront or view point.
Take lots of pictures!!!

3. Then head for Pizza Parlor, Deli or other eatery for good conversation over good food.

4. Done - Time: about 3-4 hours depending how much chatting takes place. Cruise should not be long but should include interesting place(s). Do not be discouraged if you do not draw a crowd. Remember there's not many of us in any one place. The worst thing that could happen is that you wait in a parking lot by yourself for an hour.
